Infratel Italy carries out periodically a public consultation in order to update connectivity availability of High-Speed Broadband connectivity offered by telecommunications operators in order to identify areas where operators have not so far intervened with their own infrastructure programs or are interested in doing so within the next three years (areas in a state of “market failure”) and consequently identify the geographical areas that will subsequently be affected by the assistance measures referred to in the “Italian Strategy for High-Speed Broadband” approved with Resolution by the Council of Ministers on 3 March 2015.
The consultation takes place in accordance with point 78 of the “EU Guidelines for the application of State aid rules in relation to the rapid deployment of broadband networks” (2013C-25/01) and is therefore aimed at a clear identification of geographic areas eligible for public intervention, optimizing the use of available resources and minimizing potential distortion of competition.
